The strange rituals and beliefs of The Khlysty, an extinct Russian sect from the nineteenth century, have been revived by a man who has taken the name of Rasputin, the Khlysty’s most famous adherent. He is the leader of a doomsday cult and he preaches the rebellion of the people against the Antichrist in the guise of all forms of government.
Earl James, a Texas millionaire, hires a Los Angeles private investigator and a reclusive man from the wooded country of eastern Texas, to snatch his daughter from the clutches of Rasputin and the Khlysty cult. Their search begins in the woods of Oregon, where they meet a beautiful reporter intent on exposing the cult and leads them across the United States to Arizona and northern Louisiana.
The self-styled Rasputin teams up with Abdul Hakim Yousef, a member of the extremist Islamic Jihad and a specialist in explosive devices. Together they have hatched a plot that will shake the foundations of the American political system.
The trio pursues Rasputin to New Orleans in a race against time to foil his plan to bomb the Republican National Convention in the Superdome. In the stunning conclusion of the story, the legend of Rasputin is once again cast into infamy.
The files on a series of murders find their way to the Unsolved Case Review Division of the Tucson Police Department, better known as Cold Eyes. Charles Ewing, a brash young corporal and SWAT sniper finds himself in the center of an internal investigation. Teamed up with Bob Earp, an aging and cynical detective, they make up Cold Eyes. Joined by a beautiful attorney from the D.A.'s office they follow the thread that binds the cases together and leads them to two men, identical twins born in the hill country of western Arkansas.
As the Cold Eyes team draws closer to the surprising answer to the puzzle, Ronnie and Kenny Loker lash back and make one last desperate attempt at freedom. The breathtaking climax pits Bob Earp against them and against time in the loneliness of the desert night to prevent Maria Rodriguez from becoming their next victim.
Accused of the murder of his wife in 1995, Matt Kirkland made a daring escape from Louisiana justice. Now, new evidence leads him back to the Big Easy where he teams up with an assistant district attorney and a beautiful FBI agent in a race against the oncoming fury of a hurricane that ultimately metes out the justice the legal system failed to dispense.
Patrick Murphy, an ambitious trial attorney, has positioned himself for a meteoric rise to the top of his profession. Fast cars, beautiful women, and the garish nightlife of the Big Easy are the backdrops for his lifestyle. Constant conflict with his father, the ex-Deputy Chief of Police, has driven him to both heights of success and depths of depression. Suddenly he finds himself entrapped in a compromising situation that threatens to shatter his fragile relationships with his fiance and father, and to destroy his aspirations. Using the analytical skills he has honed in the courtroom, he hatches a scheme of murder and deceit that will free him from blackmail by an ebony seductress and incriminate a young intern from his law firm.
John Roth, a senior detective with the N.O.P.D. looks forward to his imminent retirement with apprehension. Reflecting on his past and its successes and failures, he attempts to solve the final cases of his career. A young black man is accused of murdering his father.
